the lost weekend

So, I'm back again after an extended break from my everyday life. In between, I saw Arsenal go through for the first time in their history to the semi-finals of the Champions League, before getting their bubble burst - somehow fittingly - by Man Ure. This time though, I'm not at all bitter. We may be playing for 4th place, but Tottenham are still due to play Man Utd, and I'm expecting the same treatment. Besides, in the scheme of bigger things, an United win may yet stop Chelski from retaining their premiership crown.

Moving on to non-footie related themes. I went to the Netherlands last week, and it was a blast. The plan was to catch London Calling, a 2 day showcase of British indie bands in Amsterdam. But fate conspired against me and made sure that the tickets were sold out before I had a chance to get one. Oh well... I did went to a concert though. The Infadels they were called, and they sound like a bad Franz Ferdinand clone, banging dance-rock/punk like it was 2004 without the wit and sophistication of messr. Kapranos, Thompson, McCarthy and Hardy. The songs were interchangeable and the singer's antics gets on your nerves after 15 minutes. Went to a museum too. The Gemeente Museum in The Hague is famous for its Mondriaan collection. Besides Mondriaan's masterpieces, I saw a few interesting works from Rodin, Schiele, and a few other artists whose name I can't really remember. All in all an enjoyable trip. (Special thanks to Fonz and Yuli for putting up with me!)

Just read an interesting interview over at Pitchfork. For you seeking clarity in the matter of music copyright and so on, click here!
